Chorley Old Road / Marcus Street Junction

In addition to the proposed upgrades for Bolton Town Centre to Doffcocker (Phase One) scheme, the junction at B6226 Chorley Old Road and Marcus Street has been identified as benefitting from improvements.<img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/commonplace-digital-limited/image/upload/v1632837731/projects/towntodoffcocker/377f0537-381d-4b92-b444-a50a2fda7d30.jpg" />Source: TfGMThe proposals for B6226 Chorley Old Road / Marcus Street includes:<li>Reposition and upgrade of the existing zebra crossing to a segregated walking and cycling crossing;</li> <li>Include a cycle filter on Marcus Street (road closed to motor traffic at the junction with B6226 Chorley Old Road);</li> <li>Tighten Captains Clough Road junction to make it easier to cross; and</li> <li>Creation of a contraflow* cycle lane on Captains Clough Lane, linking to the new crossing.</li>We would like to get your feedback on the initial designs below, responses to the questions at the bottom of this page will be used to refine the scheme as it is taken forward and ensure that it best meets the needs of the local community. <a href="https://towntodoffcocker.commonplace.is/proposals/tell-us-your-thoughts-by-completing-our-short-survey"></a> Thank you.*Contraflow bicycle lanes are bicycle lanes designed to allow people cycling to ride in the opposite direction of motor vehicle traffic.
